Welcome to the Village Green Teams
The Village Green Teams were set up at the end of 2005. The aim was to help each other to learn more about the causes and impact of climate change and then find practical options for living in a less carbon greedy way.
In practice this has meant looking at a wide range of topics including the importance of using local shops and services, saying NO to plastic bags, campaigning to save our local Post Offices, setting up various local re-cycling schemes, encouraging take up of bus passes and providing information about home insulation schemes. These and many other ideas covered by the Green Teams in the past three years all have a carbon footprint connection. And in fact it seems that practically every carbon-reducing activity could also save us money or improve the quality of our lives – think about eating fresher local food, living in a warmer home, letting the bus driver worry about the traffic, cutting down on water bills, feeling healthier because you walk the extra mile…. So far, so good. But now we come to the snag……
Due to the fact that several people who previously helped run the group have been forced to give up, there are now not enough people involved and the Village Green Teams has been moth-balled. There is still a lot that can be achieved, but we need a few more people to share the organizational load. It is a very rewarding process to be involved in and a good way to meet like-minded souls.
